The History of Software

Filed under: Fitness Club Management Software — Tags: — MattZ @ 1:16 am

I came across this link recently.

It outlines major events in the history of software. It really is stageering to consider how far and how fast we have come in such a short period of time. It really is exciting to be a part of this industry and experience just how awesome it can impact the world. I expect that we’ll a direct brain interface before too long.  Wouldn’t be cool to have access to all the knowledge of the internet just by thinking about it.

Pretty cool that a sight like this recognized the world’s best fitness club management software too!

How to Be Great at Gym Membership Sales

Filed under: Uncategorized, healh club management — Tags: — MattZ @ 12:54 pm

Great article in this month’s Club Insider written by Jim Thomas.  If you don’t know Jim, trust me, he knows what he is talking about.

Here’s his list:

1.  You must be sold yourself.  If you don’t genuinely believe that your’s is the best gym, you won’t be as effective selling it.  When managing your sales team, alwasy reinforce the mantra that your gym is the best.

2.  Passion.  Belief.  Conviction.

3.  Be unreasonable.  Refuse be swayed by any excuse not to join your gym.

4.  If you’re not hitting your numbers, you’re not sold.

5.  If YOU have excuses, you’re not sold.  ”We’re too expensive”, “this is a slow time of year.”  Get those out of your head.

6.  The most important sale you will ever make is to yourself.

7.  The idea of you being sold must be 100% and you must work at it.

Seems to be a common theme here – be convinced in your product/your gym.

After almost 20 years in the fitness business developing and selling the best fitness club management software in the world, we’ve met and spoken with literally thousands and thousands of fitness club owners around the world.  There is a litany of advice and perspective we’ve gained in this process.  Probably the most important is to close the sale when the prospect is in your club.  If your marketing efforts are working, prospects will visit your club to see if they want to join.  That is the time to close the sale.  The minute that prospect walks out the door, the likelihood of closing that sale just dropped by 80%.  Really.

So believe in your gym.  Sell yourself on your gym.  And don’t let that prospect walk out the door without joining your gym!

Club Industry 2014 Vendor Fair

I tried to shoot a video walkthrough of the vendor fair at last weeks Club Industry Show in Chicago.

My memory card maxed out so I only covered about half of it.

In short, there were great vendors there, which can be a terrific value-add for fitness club owners wanting to evaluate different products for their fitness club.

Club Industry is no IHRSA, however.  While it has a good sampling of vendors, the mack daddy of all trade shows is IHRSA (In LA this March); its waaaaay bigger and has many more vendors (at least 10 times as many).  If you can’t make that, then Club Industry will do.

Of course, the world’s best fitness club management software was on discplay at the show – iGo360

Club Industry 2014

Just returned from the Club Industry trade show in Chicago.

Chicago is a great town for a fitness trade show. No good trade shows in that part of the country, so this show draws a crowd from Illinois and all the surounding states.  Club owners who can’t make IHRSA in the spring attend as well, so while the crowd is mostly regional, the show pulls attendees from all over the country.

Thank you to all who stopped by. It was great meeting you and also catching up with our other trade show friends.

Check out my video interview here:

I’m talking about the world’s best fitness club management software, iGo 360, of course.

The next best thing

Filed under: Fitness Management Software — Tags: — MattZ @ 8:24 am

Whenever I can, I try to keep an eye out for the latest trends in the fitness industry.  You never know when someone might come up with the next greatest thing to revolutionize the fitness industry.  And sometimes it helps to tweak the best fitness club management software in the world (iGo 360) to accommodate whatever that new thing may be.

I recently came across this video of equipment produced by a Chinese manufacturer.

Is it the next best thing?  Does our gym management software need to integrate with this equipment to track….. well I’m not sure.

Somehow I don’t think the fitness industry will be revolutionized with this one.  Precor can rest easy this time.

Red Red Wine

Filed under: health club software — Tags: — MattZ @ 8:27 am

We’re doomed.

“Scientists” have concluded that drinking red wine is better than going to a gym in an articles titled:

“Is Drinking Wine Better Than Going To The Gym? According To Scientists, Yes!”

Apparently they discovered Resveratrol is great antioxidant that helps with heart health. It must be true because I read it on the internet.

I thought that was old news.  Seems stores have been selling that stuff for years.

The article is a little light on what new info science researcher Dyck discovered that supports this conclusion.

Probably a case of hyped internet headline to get you to read the article and click their advertiser’s ads.

Maybe we should try that.  How about “World’s Best Fitness Club Software used to Launch the Space Shuttle”?

The Best Video Game Ever

Filed under: fitness club software, fitness software — Tags: — MattZ @ 7:57 pm

Wouldn’t it be great if they invented video games that integrate exercise so your kids (and you) could exercise  instead of sitting on the couch all day?

News flash:  They did a long time ago.  Wii Fit U by Nintendo and Microsoft Xbox One with Kinect have great fitness games.  The key they have not cracked yet is how to make them popular.

The recent study in the link below tests and rates the games.  Generally, the games concentrate on balancing skills, cardio and mortor-neuro training.  They also offer assessments how you improve over time.  Check the table in the link to see the fitness goals each system has to offer.

Wii Fit U detects body weight and applied forces and several categories with games that focus on balancing, dance, yoga, aerobics. and strength training.

Xbox One can measure your heart rate without having to wear a monitor and tracks movement accuracy.  It issues challenges to help motivate your workouts.

Personally, I think it’s a great that the gaming companies are trying this.  Now if I can get them to make a Minecraft mod, then maybe they will actually become interested….

Who knows, maybe it can be a new feature for iGo 360, the world’s best fitness club management software.;_ylt=AwrTWfw.0NpTIWoAUzTQtDMD

Hey Buddy, Can you Spare $6 million?

I can’t.  And apparently the Gold’s Gym of Oxnard can’t either.

That gym was hit with a $6 Million judgment for basically being jerks when members wanted to cancel their memberships.  The gym is now in bankruptcy.  See the article here:

Too bad, really.  With all the great member retention features built into club management software these days, there really is no need to engage in those sorts of tactics any more.  So instead of locking members into contracts they can’t escape, you’ll have members that want to be members.

If you have not checked out iGo360, the world’s best fitness club software, you should.  It has all kinds of great member retention tools to help you keep you members longer.

Battle of the Bulge

Filed under: cloud, fitness club software — MattZ @ 10:45 am

Looks like we suffered a significant loss in the Battle of the Bulge.  This article claims research shows long term weight loss is near impossible without surgery.!/content/1.2663585

Considering the results we’ve seen in gyms around the world over the years, I find this hard to believe.

If you’re tracking your members’ results in your fitness club management software, you’ll know this to be false too.

If your club management software does not do that, then its time to switch to the best cloud-based gym management software in the world, iGo 360!
